Billy Dean Thomas

Hip-Hop Artist

ABOUT THEIR MUSIC

Billy Dean Thomas (they/them) is a hip-hop lyricist and recording artist also known as “The Queer B.I.G.”
Their music style is an incendiary blend of polyrhythmic flows, arty hip-hop, and socially conscious lyrics. Their lyrics have challenged and revolutionized the music industry by highlighting intersectional feminism, social jutice, the gender spectrum, and growing up in a gentrified city. The concept of freedom dominates their lyrics: freedom from poverty, racism, and the gendery binary, as well as the freedom of self-confidence and realizing one’s true identity.
Thomas’ music has been described as a blend between Run The Jewels, Rage Against The Machine, and The Roots. They were nominated for five Boston Music awards and were a songwriter for the Grammy-nominated album "The Love" by the Alphabet Rockers.
